Location: LC-39A Kennedy Space Center
Launch Time: TBD
Mission: NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope
Join us on Florida's Space Coast for the launch of NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, one of the agency's most anticipated astrophysics missions of the decade. Launching aboard a SpaceX rocket, the Roman Space Telescope is designed to answer some of the biggest questions in astronomy, including the nature of dark energy, the search for distant exoplanets, and the evolution of galaxies throughout the universe.
Named in honor of NASA's first Chief of Astronomy, Nancy Grace Roman, the telescope features a field of view nearly 100 times greater than the Hubble Space Telescope while delivering comparable image quality. Its advanced instruments will allow scientists to map vast regions of the cosmos, uncover thousands of new exoplanets, and create an unprecedented infrared survey of the universe.
The Roman mission will help researchers investigate why the expansion of the universe is accelerating, explore the mysterious force known as dark energy, and provide valuable insights into the formation and evolution of galaxies over billions of years. The telescope is also expected to discover thousands of worlds beyond our solar system using gravitational microlensing, significantly expanding our understanding of planetary systems throughout the Milky Way.
Visitors and residents are invited to experience this historic launch from numerous viewing locations across Titusville, Port Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, and other destinations throughout Florida's Space Coast.
