Date: Mar 08, 2026

Location: SLC-40, Cape Canaveral SFS, Florida, USA

Launch Time: TBD

Mission Type: Commercial Communications Satellite (Geostationary Transfer Orbit)

Mission Overview & Payload Insight

The EchoStar XXV mission will launch a high-capacity commercial communications satellite for EchoStar Corporation, expanding broadband and broadcast services across North America and potentially additional international markets.

EchoStar XXV is expected to operate in geostationary orbit (GEO), approximately 22,236 miles above Earth, providing continuous coverage over its assigned region. Once deployed into a Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO) by Falcon 9, the satellite will use onboard propulsion to circularize and position itself in its final orbital slot.

Typical capabilities of satellites in this class include:

  • High-throughput Ka-band and/or Ku-band transponders

  • Broadband connectivity for residential and enterprise customers

  • Support for media distribution, data services, and mobility markets

  • Long design life (often 15+ years of operational service)

Why This Launch Matters

  • Expands commercial broadband infrastructure from space

  • Strengthens satellite-based connectivity options for rural and underserved areas

  • Highlights Falcon 9’s versatility in supporting both LEO constellation launches and high-energy GTO missions

  • Adds to Florida’s role as a launch hub for global communications satellites

Visitor & Viewing Tips

  • Best Viewing Locations: Jetty Park, Playalinda Beach, Cocoa Beach Pier, Titusville riverfront parks

  • Expect a Different Trajectory: GTO missions often produce a more extended upper-stage burn and can create longer-lasting light trails in twilight launches

  • Arrive Early: March launches can draw strong attendance, especially on weekends

  • What to Bring: Camera with zoom or long-exposure capability, binoculars, water, folding chair

  • Livestream: SpaceX typically provides a webcast for commercial missions
