Mission Type: Communications – Starlink broadband constellation deployment

Mission Overview & Payload Insight

Starlink Group 6-100 marks a milestone launch within SpaceX’s Starlink program, deploying another batch of Starlink V2-mini satellites into low Earth orbit. These second-generation satellites are designed to significantly expand network capacity, reduce latency, and improve service reliability as Starlink scales toward global coverage.

Key payload characteristics include:

  • High-throughput phased-array antennas with dynamic beam steering

  • Electric propulsion (Hall-effect thrusters) for orbit raising, station-keeping, and collision avoidance

  • Increased constellation density, improving redundancy and performance worldwide

  • Potential inclusion of Direct-to-Cell capability, enabling future satellite-to-mobile connectivity in areas without terrestrial networks

Following stage separation, the Falcon 9 first stage is expected to attempt recovery on an Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship (ASDS) in the Atlantic Ocean, continuing SpaceX’s industry-leading reusable launch operations.
