SpaceX Falcon 9 – CRS‑33 (SpX‑33) Cargo Dragon Mission
Rocket: Falcon 9 Block 5
Orbit: Low Earth Orbit (LEO)
Mission Type: Cargo Resupply (Commercial, NASA CRS‑2)
Mission Overview:
SpaceX will conduct its 33rd Commercial Resupply Services mission (CRS‑33 / SpX‑33) to the International Space Station (ISS), under a contract with NASA. The mission will utilize a Cargo Dragon spacecraft, carrying thousands of pounds of scientific experiments, supplies, and hardware to support ISS operations and research
The Dragon spacecraft on this mission features a new trunk-based propulsion system capable of performing an orbital boost while docked to the ISS—part of technology demonstrations coordinated under NASA’s broader Deorbit Vehicle development program
Recovery:
Upon completion of its station stay, the Cargo Dragon will return to Earth via parachute-assisted splashdown in the ocean. The Falcon 9 first stage is expected to attempt landing on a drone ship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean
Why It Matters:
-
Marks the 33rd SpaceX cargo mission under NASA’s CRS‑2 contract
-
