SpaceX Falcon 9 – MTG‑S1 with Sentinel‑4A

Mission Overview:
This mission will place MTG‑S1, the Meteosat Third Generation Sounder satellite, into geostationary orbit. Onboard is the Sentinel‑4A ultraviolet/visible/near‑infrared spectrometer, marking the first time Europe deploys an infrared sounding instrument from GEO. After transatlantic arrival in May, the satellite was moved to Astrotech in Florida and completed fueling by June 19 

Key Features:

• First geostationary infrared sounder by Europe for enhanced weather forecasting 

• Sentinel‑4A spectrometer to monitor air quality across Europe and North Africa every 60 minutes 

• Complements MTG‑I imaging satellites to provide full lifecycle storm data and atmospheric profiles

🛸 Booster Recovery:
Falcon 9’s first stage will make a landing attempt on an Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship (ASDS) in the Atlantic
