Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4)

Ax-4 marks a historic return to human spaceflight for India, Poland, and Hungary, each conducting its first government-sponsored mission in over 40 years. While this is only the second human spaceflight in history for each nation, it will be their first mission aboard the International Space Station. This landmark flight highlights Axiom Space’s role in expanding global access to low Earth orbit and advancing national space programs worldwide.

“With a culturally diverse crew, we are not only advancing scientific knowledge but also fostering international collaboration. Our previous missions set the stage and with Ax-4, we ascend even higher,  bringing more nations to low-Earth orbit and expanding humanity’s reach among the stars.”

Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4): A Milestone in International Space Collaboration

The Ax-4 crew features astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary, marking each nation’s first mission to the International Space Station and only their second government-sponsored human spaceflight mission in over 40 years.

  • Shubhanshu Shukla will become India’s second astronaut in space since 1984.
  • Sławosz Uznański, an ESA project astronaut, will be Poland’s second astronaut since 1978.
  • Tibor Kapu will be the second Hungarian astronaut since 1980.
  • Peggy Whitson will serve as mission commander, leading her second commercial human spaceflight and extending her record for the most cumulative time in space by an American astronaut.

Ax-4 represents the second commercial mission composed of government and ESA-sponsored astronauts, further showcasing Axiom Space’s leadership in opening access to low Earth orbit. This mission is not only a pivotal step for the participating nations, but also a symbol of how commercial spaceflight is redefining opportunities for international space programs worldwide.
