Rusty’s Seafood & Oyster Bar is a beloved, family-owned waterfront restaurant in Port Canaveral, offering a laid-back coastal atmosphere, fresh seafood, and one of the best spots to view rocket launches from nearby Kennedy Space Center.

The story begins in 1948, when Bernard Fischer opened Bernard’s Surf, one of the first restaurants in Cocoa Beach. A member of the pioneering Fischer family, Bernard was part of a legacy rooted in Port Canaveral’s early fishing village days. Over the decades, the family’s hospitality and fresh coastal cuisine welcomed not just locals, but also astronauts, movie stars, and journalists.

After Bernard’s passing in 1965, his nephew Rusty Fischer stepped in to carry on the tradition—and in 1992, he created Rusty’s Seafood & Oyster Bar, where the family’s passion continues today under the leadership of his sons, Rhett and Rusty, and their dedicated team.
